Abstract
Science in general and chemistry in particular are important parts of our intellectual and cultural heritage because they provide very valuable descriptions, explanations, and predictions regarding the natural world. However, answers to the questions of what to teach in secondary schools and why to teach it have been the subject of debate for many years.
