Abstract

A narrowband InP/InGaAsP photodetector utilizing interlayer, or vertical, directional grating-coupling is discussed. This device is based on contradirectional waveguide coupling and uses a permanent corrugated-layer grating and an antiresonant reflecting optical waveguide (ARROW) geometry.
