Abstract
Two groups of US-based researchers used cosmic ray data to predict if the spacecraft Voyager I mission has reached the region known as the termination shock. Although they have reached opposite conclusions, findings from magnetic field and radio wave data suggest that the region has not yet been crossed. These data indicate that the voyager I is likely to reach the shock in the immediate future and become the first spacecraft to exit the solar system and observe the plasma between the stars.
