Abstract

Dramatic changes in technology and how it affects people demand that we rethink how we teach and conduct research in the information and communication sciences. Technology is changing in kind rather than just in magnitude and demands new approaches to its understanding. Industry mega-mergers show one approach. We in academia need to look for our own approach in order to continue to provide effective education and research. The proposed curriculum in a college of Communication and Information Sciences (CIS) develops an integrated vision to address information, technology, human interaction, and applications.
