Abstract
The ultrafast adiabatic heavy hole-light hole (HH-HL) population transfer in p-doped semiconductor quantum wells, wherein the transfer of holes from the HH band to the LH band is possible without creating electrons in the process, is theoretically analyzed. The theory involves a numerical solution of the equation of motion for the interband polarizations and intraband populations within an appropriate six-band model. It takes into account the Coulomb interaction and the linear and nonlinear exciton effects.
