Abstract
Two novel phenolic dinor-triterpenes isolated from Kokoona zeylanica have been identified as 23-nor-6-oxopristimerol and 23-nor-6-oxodemethylpristimerol on the basis of spectroscopic evidence and chemical interconversions. The biosynthetic significance of the co-occurrence of phenolic D:A-friedo-23, 24-dinoroleananes with phenolic and quinone-methide triterpenes in K. zeylanica is discussed.
