Abstract
The two-photon absorption (TPA) response of quadrupolar organic molecules was studied using quantum-chemical techniques. The effect on the molecular structure was found to be quantified by the evolution of the π-bond-order alternation (π-BOA) of the conjugated backbone. The analysis showed that for moderate ground-state polarizations, a marked increase of the TPA response occurred.
