Abstract

The treatment of sexually dysfunctional sexually assaulted women has routinely been ignored. Preliminary work with 68 assaulted women experiencing sexual difficulties indicates that a time-limited, behaviorally-oriented sexual dysfunction treatment package is effective in ameliorating some of their sexual problems. Treatment gains were greatest when the package was exercised in a group therapy format rather than an individual format. Therapeutic progress was found to be maintained at 3 months post-treatment. While some generalization to nonsexual problem areas immediately post-treatment was found, these gains were not maintained over time. Additional therapeutic issues that remain to be addressed are noted.
