Abstract
A separator analyzer mass spectrometer (SAMS) technique is described. The approach utilizes sequential tandem quadrupole structures. The first quadrupole, operated in the notch filter mode, is used to reject one or more masses of ions. The theory of operation and the performance observed are described.
