Abstract

This investigation was undertaken to assess the use of ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) scanning in the management of gynecologic cancer, with particular attention to the accuracy of detecting metastases. The charts of patients with abdominal and pelvic maligancies undergoing a laparotomy on the gynecologic oncology service at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, between January 1978 and July 1982, were reviewed. All those who had either a CT and/or ultrasound scan within 3 days before surgery were included in the study.
