N2 - The CENTRM1 algorithm has been developed as a part of the SCALE2 code package to process pointwise and groupwise cross section data. While the CENTRM code is the state of the art for cross section generation, there is always a need for further verification and improvement. The theme of this presentation therefore is verification through an independent computational strategy. An entirely independent method of treating a large number of energy groups, on the order of 70,000, called the method of panels, is proposed and tested. Here, we report on the numerical method used to implement the panel procedure and the progress made to date with CENTRM verification.
