Abstract

The tropical ocean and atmosphere play critical roles in the Earth's climate system. They provide the main conduits for heat and moisture that drive global circulation. Moreover, interaction between the tropical ocean and atmosphere orchestrates climate variability worldwide via influential climate systems such as El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the monsoons.
