Abstract

The cytotoxic sterols 1 and 2, previously isolated from Pseudobersama mossambicenis, have been synthesized in nine steps from stigmasterol, together with seven related sterols. Structure-activity relationships of these sterols in cytotoxicity and DNA-damaging assays are discussed.
