Abstract

This paper presents investigation on a new type of magneto-dielectric substrate for compact antenna application. The magneto-dielectric polymer material studied has tailored magnetic permeability and dielectric permittivity that are beneficial for many microwave applications. Microstrip patch antenna designs are used to evaluate the material. Our simulation and measurement results indicate that this new type of magneto-dielectric materials may be very useful in antenna applications and lead to compact and wideband antennas. Technique to reduce loss in this kind of materials will also be discussed.
