Abstract

The Coahuila fluorite deposits include limestone replacement deposits formed at the contact with rhyolites and microsyenites as well as mantos and veins not clearly associated with any known igneous body. The 87Sr/86Sr ratio of the host limestones ranges 0.7075-0.7078 whereas that of the igneous rocks ranges 0.7074-0.7118; for the fluorite the ratio ranges 0.7076-0.7083. It is concluded that 70-98% of the Sr in the fluorite came from the limestone whereas 70-96% of the F came from the igneous rocks.- R.A.H.
