Abstract

At present, a three-dimensional joint geometry modelling scheme which investigates statistical homogeneity, incorporates corrections for sampling biases and applications of stereological principles, and, also includes a formal verification procedure is not available in the literature. This paper shows development of 3D joint geometry models with aforementioned features. Joint data from Stripa mine were used in the investigation. Verifications performed so far has indicated the need to try out different schemes in modelling joint geometry parameters and to consider a number of combinations of such schemes in order to arrive at a realistic 3D joint geometry model which provides a good comparison with field data during verification. Further verification studies are recommended to check the validity of the suggested modelling schemes.
