Abstract
A demonstration plant is described which is scheduled for erection at Newman, Kentucky, and is expected to produce a flexible slate of liquid and solid fuels and anode coke from bituminous coal. The plant is intended to promote energy independence by generating products that can substitute for those derived from petroleum, as well as to promote the establishment of a commercial, private sector SRC-1 industry without additional demonstrations or experimental work.
