Abstract

This paper illustrates the use of 'Distance Expansions' (DEs), of 'Trend Surface Expansions' (TSEs), and of 'Orthogonal Trend Surface Expansions' (OTSEs), to test for,and to model, spatial parametric instabilities. Each of these approaches is described and then demonstrated through an example. A discussion of the significance of the Expansion Method paradigm to geographic research concludes the paper. -from Authors
