Abstract

The coexistence of dbe and se in as small a cluster as (HF)3- is illustrated. The stability of these anions with respect to the neutral cluster results not only from the excess electron binding energy but also from favorable entropic effects, which reflect the greater "floppiness" of the anionic structures.
