Abstract
An (attractive) selfinteraction of the Dirac field is considered in three space dimensions. A virial theorem for the kinetic energy of the field is derived. The properties of the classical fields are studied and soliton solutions developed numerically. The relevance of these solutions to the construction of quark bag models without gluons is discussed.
