Abstract

Sol-gel-derived lead titanate, lead lanthanum titanate, lead zirconate titanate and lead lanthanum zirconate titanate films were prepared. Second harmonic generation (SHG) activity from these films was explored as a function of composition, processing, phase assemblage, microstructure and orientation. Undoped PbTiO3 films exhibited strong, angular-dependent SHG signals. Incorporation of La and Zr resulted in a decrease in the signal magnitude.
