Abstract

This study demonstrates the applicability of the peridynamic (PD) theory in predicting the residual strength of notched composite laminates subjected to both tensile and compressive loading. The PD simulations are used to explore the effect of notch size on the failure behavior. The PD predicted peak failure loads and damage patterns are compared with those from experimental observations.
