Abstract
Secondarily treated wastewater was applied separately to sandy and siltaceous soil-turf filters to study relative removals of phosphorus, sodium, boron, and chlorine and the associated implications for groundwater recharge. Removal of phosphorus was greater in the siltaceous filter, but in both filters leachate phosphorus concentrations increased with rate of wastewater application and with time; amendment of soils with lime may be necessary to keep leachate phosphorus concentrations low.
