Abstract
We evaluate the departures from Bouguer's law for the case of an oblate atmosphere. We show that, to lowest order, the plane of refraction is defined by the normal to the atmosphere at closest approach. In next order, however, the ray path is "warped" by the oblateness, which changes slightly the plane of refraction.
