Abstract
Surface Raman spectra have been successfully acquired from monolayer films of thiophenol and 4-mercaptopyridine adsorbed at mechanically polished, polycrystalline Pt surfaces. Surface coverages for thiophenol on these Pt surfaces were estimated from X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electrochemical studies. This work demonstrates the feasibility of studying surface chemistry occurring on Pt surfaces using Raman spectroscopy.
