Abstract

A framework is introduced for identifying the major uptake process and further interpreting measurements of plant concentrations. The mathematical analysis leads to two interpretive tools, each containing three distinct and easily recognizable segments, and each segment corresponds to one of the three deposition processes. When the experimental data are plotted and the three segments are identified, it is possible to determine the dominant uptake process for a given compound, thus making it possible to further interpret plant uptake behavior.
