Radical Placetending: A Duoethnographic Inquiry on Place Relations

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In exploring the critical dimensions of place and narrative, we are drawn to grappling with a profound inquiry: How might we engage with radical placetending? In this duoethnographic article, we explore and contend with the notion of place as lived social–political–ecological space, or the dynamic assemblage of what we inherit, invest, invent, and inhabit. Our inquiry engages directly with place relations as a crucial aspect in conducting research concerned with social matters and human imagination, and our affective capacity to sit with and hold space for difficult knowledges. We employ the method of writing-together as an embodied decolonial gesture to imbue relationality, disrupt onto-epistemic bias, and encourage deep introspection.
