Abstract

Numerical modeling of the ion exchange process in glass is performed, accounting for the presence of an arbitrary, nonhomogeneous, time-dependent electric field. Several waveguide devices are modeled, and it is shown that the mutual influence between closely spaced waveguides during processing can have a significant effect on device performance.
