Abstract

We present the implementation and results obtained with a prototype read-out and control board designed to test the electronics for the 24 AdaptiSPECT-C 81-channel hybrid PMT/SiPM modular gamma-ray cameras. The prototype board is utilized to test, optimize, and characterize the 1-bit and non-uniform 2-bit sigma-delta modulators (SDMs) used for the A/D conversion of light sensor signals, to determine optimal parameters for the camera temperature controller, and to develop firmware for the on-board FPGA/processor that manages the temperature sensors and controller, 32-channel IC DACs, PMT power supplies, digital side of SDMs, network server functions, communication with adaptive aperture microcontroller, and data transfer to the main acquisition computer.
