Abstract

The purpose of the research described in this paper was: to estimate evapotranspiration (ET) of Bermuda turfgrass (Cynodon dactylon, Midiron) in Tucson, Arizona using a surface energy balance approach; and to evaluate the method by comparison to daily ET values obtained from non-weighting lysimeters. The surface energy balance equation was solved for the latent heat term to estimate ET from Bermuda Turfgrass over a range of stress conditions. Resulting ET estimates were within 13% of measured ET values using empirically determined aerodynamic resistance values.
