Abstract

We demonstrate cooling, trapping, and precision spectroscopy of the (1S<inf>0</inf>- 3P<inf>0</inf>) “clock“ transition of neutral Hg. A novel room temperature fiber based amplifier system for the cooling laser light is also demonstrated.
