Planar optic polarization insensitive wavelength demultiplexer

Abstract

High efficiency surface relief and volume gratings are compared in terms of their performance as planar optic polarization insensitive WDM components. Simulations with rigorous coupled wave theory and measurements show that volume gratings provide inherently better performance for this application.
