Picosecond Laser Filamentation in Air

We show that in picosecond laser filamentation in air, impact ionization mechanism facilitates the formation of dense yet continuous plasma channels. Picosecond filamentation may combine the advantages of femtosecond filamentation and nanosecond optical breakdown regimes.
