Abstract
The photo-oxidation of hydroquinone to benzoquinone at thin-film monomeric silicon phthalocyanine electrodes has been studied using the photocoulometric method. This technique consists of irradiating an electrochemical cell with a pulsed laser and measuring both the current-time behavior (the photocurrent) and the total amount of charge transfer (the photocharge). A block diagram of the apparatus for these measurements is illustrated. The dependence of the photocharge on several experimental variables was explored. The results of these measurements are summarized below.
