Abstract

The classical definitions of two-dimensional (2-D) periodicity are generalized so as to include a larger class of sequences, and a new definition of periodicity is introduced. A 2-D first-order digital filter implemented with two's complement truncation quantization is considered, and necessary conditions are established for the existence of some types of separable limit cycles. Several examples of digital filters are presented to illustrate the results.
