The recent expansion of vascular interventions has led to renewed interest in digital subtraction angiography. Attention has been focused on technical developments that are specifically intended to facilitate percutaneous interventions, but also offer advantages in other procedures. In addition, there is increased awareness of the basic advantages of digital subtraction angiography over conventional film/screen angiography. Current digital subtraction angiography systems provide the speed, flexibility, convenience and image quality necessary to meet the exacting demands of newer vascular procedures, and also offers benefits in other applications. In this article the authors report on their experience with the new Philips DVI-S system in vascular and non-vascular percutaneous interventions, as well as in pulmonary angiography. Numerous clinical images are presented.
