Abstract

Oxford Studies in Normative Ethics is an annual forum for new work in normative ethical theory. Leading philosophers present original contributions to our understanding of a wide range of moral issues and positions. This fifteenth volume includes chapters on a variety of topics including nonmoral blame by George Sher, rethinking respect by Clara Lingle, the ethics of positive perspective-taking by James Fritz, responsibility for ideological beliefs by Allen Buchanan, interpretation under oppression by A. K. Flowerree, patient moral luck by Preston Werner, partiality and consequentialism by Jessica Fischer, Jussi Suikkanen’s contribution on whether Derek Parfit’s earlier views on personal identity are consistent with his later views on moral theory, the primacy of moral principles in relation to moral reasons by Robert Johnson, and conceptual engineering in ethics by Tristram McPherson.
