Abstract

The focus of this chapter is to introduce important background information on the physical properties of polymers and then to discuss the significant progress that has occurred in polymers for passive waveguide operations, such as high-performance filters for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems, and in both waveguide and free-space electro-optic (EO) polymer modulators, which have applications in both high-speed communications and radio- frequency (RF) photonics.
