Abstract
The causes of overlap and its trade-offs to achieve acceptable signal to noise ratios, method of overlap thermal stabilization, and maximizing lidar output laser energy while still adhering to eye-safety restrictions are discussed. An alternate design is proposed using the new tradeoffs. A new overlap function is simulated by using new system parameters that were determined by balancing between maximizing the signal to noise ratio (SNR) and minimizing the full overlap design.
