Abstract

We propose an optimized mapping rule for the 32-point four-dimensional cross-constellation for high-speed optical communications based on bit-interleaved coded-modulation with iterative decoding. The optimized mapping outperforms its random counterpart by 1 dB in terms of OSNR sensitivity.
