Abstract

The methodology presented in this paper explicitly includes availability measures that incorporate both mechanical and hydraulic unavailability of system components for a dynamic system. The methodology incorporates availability measures in the optimal design model WADSOPT developed by Lansey and Mays (1987) to produce a new model WSAVOPT, which determines optimal-reliable designs.
