title = "Optical disks in optical computing",
abstract = "Two optical-disk based architectures are described. The first is an optical implementation of the radial basis function approach for handwritten character recognition. The second system is an optoelectronic neural network implementation with electronic neurons, electronic synapses, and optical-disk-based weight storage. The optical implementations described take advantage of the storage capacity and the fast parallel access capabilities of the optical disk.",
