Abstract
An overview is given on a theoretical study demonstrating that nonlinear effects similar to those underlying in EIT in 3-level atoms can be realized in the 3rd-order nonlinear regime with excitonic and biexcitonic coherences in semiconductors. The implications of this work are outlined.
