On the anisotropy of liquid crystals in the thz frequency range

Abstract

We report on the temperature dependence of the refractive index of nematic liquid crystals in the terahertz frequency range. From the measured data, molecular properties are determined by different approaches and the impact of the molecular chain length on the polarizability is discussed.
