Abstract

This chapter discusses occurrence and survival of viruses on fomites (inanimate objects). The significance of transfer of viruses from fomites to hands and other objects is discussed and existing data reviewed. The application of transmission models to better quantify the extent of fomite transmission and the success of interventions are discussed.
