Nucleon magnetic moments in nuclei and quark degrees of freedom

Abstract

We discuss the values of the magnetic moments of nucleons when inside a nucleus and present evidence that shows these moments to be larger than in free space. We present a possible theoretical explanation in the special case of the trinucleon system in terms of the quark structure of nucleons.
