Abstract

The solidification process of Al and Al-5.1% Cu alloy has been studied by measuring their resistivities. It is noticed that the nucleation and the primary growth of the nuclei cause the sharp change of their resistivities at the moment of the nuclei appearance in the melt. The influence of the grain refinement by addition of a grain refining agent on the resistivities is also studied.
