Abstract

We discuss the photorefractive properties of polymer composites. Recent developments in the description of the photorefractive effect in these new materials are described and their properties are compared to existing inorganic crystals. High diffraction efficiencies (86%) and high net two-beam coupling gain (200 cm-1) are demonstrated.
