N2 - We discuss the potential of terahertz time domain spectroscopy for analyzing the thickness and quality of plastic pipes. We show that a fiber coupled spectrometer ideally suits the industrials needs for roughness and accuracy. Using a numerical time domain algorithm to extract the pipes thickness allows even for analyzing signals weekly towering the noise floor.
