Abstract

"Umklapp processes" in quasi-one-dimensional conductors (TMTSF)2X change their phase diagram qualitatively in the magnetic field. This leads to the coexistence of spin-density waves (SDW) characterized by different wave vectors. Earlier calculations on the quantum Hall effect in this situation appear to be incorrect and the Hall conductivity quantization follows from a more general theorem.
